I filmed and directed this short film last weekend as an entry to The Seattle Vintage Jazz Dance Society’s annual video competition.
We shot with my Canon 7D, a large-ish volunteer cast and crew, and spent somewhere in the ballpark of $300 on props, costumes, food, etc.
Lenses used: Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Sigma 30mm f1.4, Nikon 50mm f1.8, and a Nikon 85mm f1.8.
As for camera movement, we used a mixture of my bogen spreader dolly, a homemade PVC dolly, a kessler crane, and a wheel chair/handheld rig (seemed fitting for the subject matter).
The screening took place last night, and our film took the top prize. I’m proud of it, and extremely grateful that everyone’s hard work amounted to something worth while.
